Arborinfo LLC

Tom Hanson has extensive experience as a consulting forester and consulting arborist. His interest in trees and forests is rooted in his rural northwest Washington upbringing.  He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Forest Management and immediately joined Seattle-based International Forestry Consultants, Inc. (INFO) as a field forester cruising timber throughout the western United States.  This experience formed a sound basis for his transition to forest appraisals, forest land management, and urban tree assessments and urban forest assessments. He eventually acquired INFO and developed it into a full service consulting company of professional foresters and arborists with diverse expertise. Fifteen years later he merged INFO into American Forest Management Inc. and remained with them for 5 more years. In 2016 Tom formed ArborInfo LLC in order to provide a more personal approach to arboriculture and forestry.

He has served a number of organizations as an officer/board member including Washington State Society of American Foresters at state, local, and national levels, University of Washington College of Forest Resources Alumni Association, Washington Forest Protection Association, the Practicing Foresters Institute, and the Black Mountain Forestry Center.  In 2016 he was elected Fellow by the Society of American Foresters and also received the Society of American Foresters President’s Award as Outstanding Field Forester. In 2018 he was elected Board of Directors District 1 of Society of American Foresters. He is a Commissioner on the  City of Brier Planning Commission. In 2019, he received the Presidents Award from the Association of Consulting Foresters for outstanding service as chair of the Practicing Foresters Institute.
